Now making clear his intention to return to BJP, Arjun Singh has replaced the pictures of Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee with the Prime Minister. Arjun Singh also said that by not nominating him from Barrackpore, the Trinamool leadership has made it clear that he is no longer in the party. He said, “I had no specific demand (from the party). “I wasted 18 months unnecessarily by joining Trinamool again.”
Arjun Singh’s son Pawan Singh is the BJP MLA from Bhatpara, one of the seven seats under the Barrackpore Lok Sabha constituency. State Irrigation Minister Partha Bhowmik, who has been fielded by Trinamool from Barrackpore this time, said that if Singh keeps changing his political affiliation again and again, he will lose credibility among the people of Barrackpore. However, it is not yet clear whether Arjun Singh will be allowed to re-enter the Bharatiya Janata Party or not.
Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Subhendu Adhikari said, “Any decision in this regard will be taken by the party high command in Delhi.” Bharatiya Janata Party can again include the sitting MP in the party and give him the ticket. However, for this he will have to convince the high command that he will not change sides again.
